The Plant Matters — Even in Your Deodorant

Most magnesium-based natural deodorants leverage the magnesium hydroxide is doing real, well-documented work. It raises the skin’s surface pH just enough to make life inhospitable for the bacteria that actually cause odor, without disrupting your skin barrier the way baking soda can. Formulators and dermatology-focused skincare writers consistently point to this as the gentler, more skin-compatible mechanism, especially for anyone who’s tried a baking-soda stick and ended up with redness to show for it. We agree with that science completely. We just don’t think the mineral should be doing all the work alone in a base that’s an afterthought.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (MCT Oil), infused with Sambucus Nigra Flower

This is our base. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride is a lightweight, fast-absorbing emollient derived from coconut chosen specifically because it carries actives beautifully without leaving residue. We use it as the infusion medium for our own elderberry flower, which research has linked to meaningful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity at the cellular level, largely thanks to its polyphenol and flavonoid content. Most deodorant bases are just filler. Ours is doing double duty: glide, plus the same botanical signature that runs through our syrups.

Magnesium Hydroxide

The mineral backbone, and the reason this works as well as it does. Unlike baking soda, which is highly alkaline and can compromise the skin barrier with regular use, magnesium hydroxide creates a gentler pH shift, just enough to discourage the bacteria responsible for odor, without irritating reactive or sensitive underarm skin. It doesn’t block your sweat glands. It doesn’t interfere with how your body naturally regulates temperature. It simply makes the surface of your skin a less hospitable place for odor to start. The distinction is that it’s working with your skin’s biology instead of shutting it down

Tapioca Starch

A clean, plant-derived moisture absorber sourced from cassava root. It keeps the formula dry-to-the-touch and silky on application, without the drying effect some starches can have on sensitive skin. It’s also what gives this cream its glide.

Cera Alba (Beeswax)

Our structural ingredient. Beeswax is what allows a cream-format deodorant to hold its shape in the jar and soften instantly on contact with skin, rather than separating or turning grainy. It also forms a light, breathable layer on the skin’s surface.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil

This one’s personal to us. Jojoba oil is technically a liquid wax, and its molecular structure is famously close to the sebum your own skin produces, close enough that dermatology-adjacent skincare research consistently cites it as non-comedogenic and barrier-supportive rather than just “moisturizing.” For underarm skin specifically, which gets shaved, exposed to friction, and asked to tolerate more product than almost anywhere else on the body, the barrier compatibility matters. It’s why we chose jojoba over heavier, pore-clogging oils that other natural deodorant brands default to.

Glycerin

A humectant, plain and simple, and an essential supporting actor. Glycerin draws and holds moisture at the skin’s surface, keeping the formula and your underarms from tipping into the dryness that some magnesium and starch-based deodorants are known for over time.
